Kunst Haus Wien closed but active
01. August 2023
After more than 30 years, the entire building services of the museum will be extensively renewed, in particular the lighting and the conservational conditions will be brought up to date. A future-oriented energy concept is to be implemented here that meets the sustainability requirements of a green museum. The installation of an alternative heat and cold supply is planned by using geothermal energy.
For this occasion, the permanent Hundertwasser exhibition will be repositioned sensitively and carefully by curator Andreas J. Hirsch.
The reopening is planned for the beginning of 2024.
Meanwhile the Kunst Haus Wien team is active and offers artistic explorations in neighbouring environments. Through its CLOSE/D project, Kunst Haus Wien has chosen to enter into a dialogue with its neighbourhood and the city as a whole. Twelve artistic interventions in the public space feature ecological perspectives on the present and the future. A free programme of events invites visitors to participate in and around the TRĂ–SCH III Community Centre.
