ARCH 88/V
MOUNTAIN HUT
1995

The Mountain Hut is cut into the slope of the hill so three quarters of the height of the back of the hut is the natural clay earth. Both sides are the same but taper down on an angle to meet the front wall which is constructed full height. On top of the earth is a mixture of local Tea tree cut 30 cm long and laid flat with ends showing towards the inside and outside, and square blocks of pine wood cut from an old felled tree. There are some bottle panels on one side wall. All walls are mortared together with lime. The floor is also the natural clay earth.
