Hundertwasser's comment on the work

Here I have personified architecture. The head is simultaneously a house. If the house is the third skin of man, he perceives intrusions in the houses and damage to it. The house must grow like an organism. It must not be a block designed by architects and erected like a stillborn child which is prevented from living or dying. A house must be a living, organic unity which goes on developing and constantly changes.(from: Hundertwasser Architecture, Cologne, 1997, p. 31) Man comes from the earth and becomes earth again in the eternal cycle. So there is nothing unusual about taking a walk on this earth. We do that all the time. The earth has a fence around it, so that people know where the face ends, and many windows in the walls, which are also made of earth. I usually look at the ground when I go walking, that's probably where I get my hunched posture from - in contrast to the [Struwwelpeter figure] Hans Look-at-the-Sky, I don't need to look up, for the earth is the mirror of the sky.
