Hundertwasser's comment on the work
I flew to visit Hans Neuffer in Africa, where he had opened a "plastics factory". Also, I had to take a rifle along for a notable. With Neuffer, who was also a friend of Udo Proksch's, who is now in prison, I never knew whether he was a braggart or an adventurer. At any rate, he left me alone, and I went to Fort Portal near the Ruwenzori Mountains (The Mountains of the Moon) and painted there for several weeks in a room in a brothel. The soil was red. I used it to paint with. (from: Hundertwasser 1928-2000, Catalogue Raisonné, Vol. 2, Taschen, Cologne, 2002, p. 526)
