Hundertwasser's comment on the work
In Milan the painter Gianni Dova suggested that I make textile patterns. I could make some money doing that. It was bad advice. For when I went to a textile company with a folder of five textile and curtain designs, they politely threw me out. I admit they were horribly bad. But I have a hard time throwing anything I have started away. I just can't. So I've got to make it into something, the way one digests a bad meal. Some of these pieces I painted over, and others were pasted on canvas as a ground. This is such a picture. (from: Hundertwasser 1928-2000, Catalogue Raisonné, Vol. 2, Taschen, Cologne, 2002, p. 518)
