Hundertwasser's comment on the work
As heads had consisted of layers of earth for a long time in my painting, it was completely logical for grass to grow on the ground. Besides, I had to turn reality into something positive, as I had less and less hair on my head. This is interesting in the context of my later grass-roof architecture: if somebody asks me how often the grass on the roof should be mown ("shaved") or how often sheep have to graze there, I always say, "If possible not at all".
