Hundertwasser's comment on the work

The painting was the subject of a bet. It was hanging on the wall in the "Straw Valise" which served as the Art Club's exhibition space and was a night spot at night, to raise the money for exhibition expenses. The night-spot customers were not in any way interested in what was on exhibition. So one of two carousers lost some bet and had to shell out 100 schillings to buy the painting, which he then probably threw into the next dustbin. I wasn't there, although I usually stuck it out there till the wee hours in the vain hope that someone would be interested in my pictures.
