18 November 1980 was proclaimed Hundertwasser Day by Mayor of Washington, D.C. Marion Barry, Jr. and the first 12 of 100 trees were planted in Judiciary Square, Washington, D.C. The occasion for this tree planting was the presentation of the anti-nuclear poster Plant Trees - Avert Nuclear Peril to Ralph Nader and the environmental poster Noah's Ark 2000 for Germany.
