Hundertwasser's comment on the work

I had a little case back then and always had this watercolour painting with me. If I were ever to be bombed out or forcibly displaced, I wanted to prove with this painting that I was a good painter. (from: Cat. Albertina, Vienna, 1974, p. 54)
