Hundertwasser's comment on the work
The spiral is the beginning of all life. It is the symbol of birth and death. The birth of all things begins either in the centre, which grows larger in a spiral movement and dissipates and ends in infinity, or it comes to be in infinitely vast space, condenses in spiral form and disappears in a tiny, immeasurable point. (translated from the brochure: Hundertwasser Genesis Edition, Hanover, 1995)
