In 1991 the publishing house Verlag Hölder-Pichler-Tempsky approached Hundertwasser, suggesting he design the cover of the new edition of the Latin-German dictionary "Stowasser", 100 years after the first edition of the book by Joseph Maria Stowasser of 1894. Hundertwasser shared the same last name, but no family relationship. The book was introduced at Palais Epstein, the municipal school council for Vienna, on April 26, 1994.
