Three postage stamps were issued on the occasion of the WORLD EXPO 2000, which took place from June 1 - October 31, 2000 in Hanover, Germany. The EXPO was themed "Mensch, Natur und Technik - Eine neue Welt entsteht". The motifs for the postage stamps are connected with ecological concern, which was a main objective in the concept of the WORLD EXPO.
Also a Hundertwasser architecture project is connected with the WORLD EXPO 2000: The rebuilding of the railway station Uelzen into the HUNDERTWASSER ENVIRONMENTAL RAILWAY STATION was a local EXPO 2000-project.
