65 ago Hundertwasser sailed as a deckhand with Hans Neuffer on the S.S. Bauta from Söderhamn to Hull. He noted: “Even though I was physically weak, I was a good seaman.” In 1965 Hundertwasser wrote his essay „35 Days in Sweden“ for his exhibition at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
Now the Nordic Watercolor Museum in Skärhamn, which is located in the archipelago, is showing an extensive Hundertwasser exhibition.
The exhibition highlights on Hundertwasser’s art from the early 1950s to late 1970s. It features works on paper in watercolour and mixed media, original prints, tapestries and architectural models.
The announcement text says: Hundertwasser was a painter, a visionary artist and an ecological pioneer and never have his works been more relevant than today. His passion for nature and the environment was at the core of his art. His works vibrate with colour and creativity and draws us in with their vital energy.

The majority of the loans come from the Hundertwasser Foundation, which also thanks all private lenders who make outstanding works available that are seldom accessible in public spaces.
